Congratulations to Ario Lau, our first graduate engineer trainee who has completed a 2-year comprehensive Scheme A programme with Commtech Asia (formerly known as Sygna).
Commtech Asia was approved by The Hong Kong Institution of Engineers in 2021 to offer Scheme A training for our young professional engineers. This two-year comprehensive training aims to develop and nurture graduates in achieving the goal of becoming an engineer, and today, we are happy to have a quick chat with Ario to share his journey with us.

I am happy to have completed the HKIE Scheme “A” Graduate Training. I am grateful to all my colleagues that have supported and guided me throughout this 2-year journey.
𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐛𝐢𝐠𝐠𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐞 𝐬𝐨 𝐟𝐚𝐫 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 2-𝐲𝐞𝐚𝐫 𝐣𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐧𝐞𝐲?
Time management was my biggest challenge. I had to carefully plan and prioritize my tasks, so that I was able to fulfill work responsibilities, such as attending site tests, reviewing method statements, updating trackers, etc., as well as the demands of my Scheme A Graduate Training program.
𝐒𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐦𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭?
My first data hall project was definitely one of the most memorable projects so far. It was a fast-paced project that helped me gain an insight into the work process at Commtech Asia. Despite being new, I felt supported by my colleagues who were willing to teach me and help me gain a better understanding of the systems involved.

Commtech Asia resource library has provided me with the tools and information needed to learn and grow both professionally and personally. Having access to a resource library containing journals, standards, and guides has been instrumental in facilitating my learning and growth. The standards and guides provided me with guidelines on best practices, whereas the journals kept me up to date with the latest research and development in our industry.
